What Makes

HERITAGE EGGS

special?
On our homestead, we have a variety of Heritage breed chickens. These beautiful birds have become more rare and are slowly dwindling around the world. Hybrid chickens have been replacing them due to their fast growth and high laying abilities. Small farmers like us are keeping these beautiful birds from becoming extinct. They lay creamy eggs in a gorgeous assortment of colours. Our birds spend their day in our wide open fields foraging and enjoying the land. Just like humans, chickens are omnivores and thrive off of a wide variety of foods. We feel privileged to be a part of a small community of farmers that are helping preserve these Heritage breeds.

Thank you for your support!

Are heritage breed eggs better?
Naturally raised heritage breeds are raised without the use of steroids, preservatives or other chemicals, providing healthier egg for you and your family. Because they are raised naturally, they are also better for the environment compared to commercial hybrid breeds.

Do Heritage eggs taste different?
Compared with a factory-farm eggs, our pastured chicken egg tends to taste richer and have a creamier texture.

Why are heritage eggs different colours?
Just like us, eggs come in different shapes and colours.  The reason for the different colour eggs is simple; different breeds of chickens lay different coloured eggs, no food colouring needed.

What heritage breeds do you have on your farm?
We have a number of heritage breeds including: Speckled Sussex, Cochin, Columbian Wyandotte, Buff Orpington, Salmon Faverolle, Barred Rock, Black Copper Maran, and Opal Legbar.
